Because the windshield is the forerunner of a vehicle, it is not at all uncommon for it to get damaged, either during transit or when the car is just sitting still. In fact, it is estimated that about 30% of all insurance claims are due to problems with the windshield. Whether these damages are due to residual stress around the perimeter of the windshield or induced stress from a stone or rock, a damaged windshield can definitely be a frustrating problem for a driver.
